Cruise Recalls Football Lesson from Swift
On Monday, Tom Cruise and Taylor Swift were seated side by side at the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener, which generated plenty of buzz. Speaking with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday's Tonight Show, Cruise said Swift was teaching him about football, and he insisted it was genuine. He also mentioned having watched her Eras Tour in London back in 2024, and said he attended her July wedding to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.[S1]
Cruise praised Swift, calling her a genius and saying he has followed her since she was a kid. He described her and Kelce as a beautiful couple who are magical in their own right. He added that Swift knows her stuff and that she knew nothing about football when she met Travis. Beyond football, Cruise said they talked about music and movies. He called her funny with a great sense of humor, and also a brilliant writer, musician, and director.[S1]
Swift's Filmmaking and Cruise's Digger
Swift has directed many of her own music videos and expanded into filmmaking with the 2021 short film All Too Well: The Short Film, which starred Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien. In late 2022, it was announced that she would make her feature directorial debut for Searchlight Pictures. However, her record-breaking Eras Tour, which began the following year and ran through December 2024, appears to have delayed that project.[S1]
In that same conversation, Fallon brought up speculation that Cruise's upcoming movie Digger, helmed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, might be a musical. Cruise responded with a laugh and denied it, though he admitted the concept appealed to him, proposing they make Digger the musical. The two then sang and danced while seated. Cruise is also set to appear on Travis and Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast, arriving Friday, as part of promoting Digger.[S1]
