The Allen County Police confirmed to BBC Newsbeat that they had arrested BigXthaPlug, the 28-year-old rapper whose real name is Xavier Landum. Sam Rippamonti, the police's public information officer, stated that while an arrest had occurred, they could not share further details as the investigation is ongoing.[S1][S3]
Background and Career
BigXthaPlug, known for southern hip-hop, trap, and country-rap, gained fame with viral singles like 'Texas' and 'Mmhmm.' He recently posted on Instagram about releasing new music and was scheduled to perform at the Country Rising festival on Friday. Organizers announced he would no longer perform due to a personal emergency.[S1]
The arrest occurred almost a year after Landum, also known as BigXthaPlug, was initially detained in August 2025 on similar charges. During that incident, Dallas police pulled over a pickup truck lacking its front license plate. Landum revealed he had a gun and showed officers where it was located. A criminal database indicated his gang affiliation, which made his possession of a firearm illegal. Marijuana was also discovered by the police.[S3]
Before the 2025 arrest, BigXthaPlug was set to appear at an album release party for his album 'I Hope You're Happy,' which featured collaborations with artists like Darius Rucker, Luke Combs, Shaboozey, and Jelly Roll. He had also faced similar charges in 2022. The case from the previous arrest continues.[S1][S3]
