Fatal collision on the Panamericana
A driver died and another person was injured after a two-car collision on Saturday morning on the Panamericana highway, according to reports. The crash occurred in the central lanes, about 300 to 400 meters north of the Ugarte exit, in the direction of Buenos Aires province. One of the vehicles, a Honda HR-V, caught fire and was practically destroyed. The injured person was taken to a health center, but their condition is not yet known, and the specific causes of the crash remain under investigation.[S1][S2][S3]
The incident happened at the start of the long weekend, and the concessionaire AuSol recommended avoiding the area. Only one lane remains open in the direction of Buenos Aires province, leading to long lines of vehicles. AuSol reported that at kilometer 15.5 near Ugarte, two vehicles were involved, with one injured and one deceased, and that only one lane is enabled while experts are awaited. A diversion to the free highway at Melo is in place, and delays are expected.[S1]
