Standalone plans see steepest jump
Disney+ and Hulu have each raised the price of their standalone, ad-free plans by 13 percent, moving from $19 per month to $21.50 per month. Those tiers also include 4K and HDR support. The ad-supported standalone plans for both services increased from $12 to $12.50. This marks the fourth price hike for Disney+ in four years, and Hulu prices also went up.[S1]
Bundles and live TV also cost more
Bundles of the company's streaming services also became more costly. Subscribers choosing the ad-free Disney+ and Hulu combination now pay $22 each month instead of $20, whereas the version with advertising held steady at $13. For the three-service packages that add ESPN Select, the ad-supported tier climbed from $20 to $22, and the ad-free tier jumped from $29 to $33. Meanwhile, Hulu + Live, which layers internet-delivered cable channels onto Hulu's on-demand catalog, saw its monthly rate rise by $10.[S1]
How the new prices compare to Netflix
For comparison, Netflix currently costs $9 per month with ads and starts at $20 per month without ads. A $27 per month ad-free plan offers premium features such as 4K. That means Disney+ and Hulu are now both more expensive than the most popular streaming service, unless a subscriber wants 4K or HDR.[S1]
