Bagent Concussed, Keenum Next in Line
Chicago's backup quarterback situation has deteriorated further. Tyson Bagent has been diagnosed with a concussion and entered the protocol, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. With starter Caleb Williams considered week-to-week because of a hamstring injury, Case Keenum is now positioned to start against the Eagles next Monday night.[S1]
Bagent took over in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Vikings after Williams left with his hamstring issue. He finished the game by running Chicago's final 10 offensive plays, completing 5 of 9 passes for 54 yards.[S1]
Keenum's Long Wait and Roster Options
Keenum, who is 38, has not appeared in a game since starting two contests for Houston in 2023. In those two starts he completed 34 of 53 passes for 291 yards, with one touchdown and three interceptions. Over his career, which began in 2013, he has played in 80 games and made 66 starts.[S1]
The Bears also have rookie Miller Moss at quarterback on their practice squad. Chicago is scheduled to play Monday night, and the team's first injury report for Week 3 is due out on Thursday.[S1]
