Williams Confirms Hamstring Tear, Not Strain
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams confirmed Thursday that he tore his hamstring in a Sept. 20 game against the Minnesota Vikings, a 9-3 loss. He took issue with reports that described the injury as a strain, some of which labeled it a Grade 2 strain. Williams said the injury was a hamstring tear and a pretty serious one. He declined to reveal the grade of the tear, saying it was not deserved to be put out there after all the false reports.[S1][S2][S3]
Williams described the moment he was injured, which occurred on a red-zone scramble in the fourth quarter. He said he felt a pop and looked back, thinking someone had grabbed him, but nobody had. He has missed the past three games and has had two full practices this week, but he insists he does not know whether he will return for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. He said he has checkpoints to clear and a stress test to pass before he can play.[S1]
