Keenum delivers in unexpected start

Case Keenum, appearing in his first game since 2023, guided the Chicago Bears to a 27-7 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. With starting quarterback Caleb Williams sidelined by a hamstring injury, Keenum threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, completing 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards. The win moved both teams to 2-1 on the season.[S1]

Keenum's 67th career start placed him alongside Ryan Fitzpatrick as the only quarterbacks to win starts for seven different NFL teams. He connected with Luther Burden on an 8-yard scoring pass and found Kalif Raymond for a 41-yard touchdown. A 6-yard pass to Colston Loveland was overturned on replay when the tight end was ruled just short of the goal line. Keenum capped Chicago's scoring in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run on third down.[S1]

Chicago controls every phase

The Bears outgained the Eagles 375 to 248 yards and held possession for 36:53. Raymond finished with six catches for 90 yards, while Burden added seven receptions for 61 yards. Philadelphia never held a lead at any point in the game.[S1]

Philadelphia briefly closed the gap to 10-7 at halftime when Jalen Hurts scored on the tush push on the final play of the half. The Eagles then opened the second half with three consecutive three-and-outs, managing just 12 total yards in that stretch and 62 yards after halftime.[S1]

Eagles undone by turnovers and penalties

Philadelphia's mistakes piled up throughout the night. Andy Dalton, who briefly replaced Hurts after the starter was pulled for a concussion check, threw an interception into the end zone from the 2-yard line, giving rookie Dillon Thieneman his first career pick. Hurts also threw an interception at the Chicago 46, and Tank Bigsby lost a fumble at his own 15.[S1]

The Eagles converted just 2 of 9 third downs and committed 10 penalties, including four on defense. Hurts finished 16-of-25 for 153 yards with one interception. DeVonta Smith caught six passes for 65 yards, and Saquon Barkley rushed 15 times for 82 yards.[S1]
