A Record-Breaking Night for Widow's Bay
Widow's Bay, a horror-comedy set in a coastal American town, won 14 of the 19 Emmys it was nominated for at the 78th edition of the television awards, held Monday in Los Angeles. Its haul included best comedy series, making it the most awarded comedy in a single Emmys ceremony. Matthew Rhys made history as the first person to win two lead acting Emmys in a single ceremony, for Widow's Bay and for the miniseries The Beast in Me. The ceremony was largely free of critical or protest speeches. One of the few political references came from Alan Cumming, who urged Americans to register to vote in November's legislative elections while accepting the award for best reality competition for The Traitors.
