Peacock Sets December Launch for Ted Animated Series
Peacock will premiere Ted: The Animated Series on Dec. 17, rolling out the first eight episodes that day. The streamer plans to release additional episodes in 2027. The project was first announced in May 2025 and is set twelve years after the events of the two Ted films. Seth MacFarlane returns to voice the living teddy bear, while Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth reprise their movie roles as John, Sam and Tami-Lynn. Kyle Mooney joins as the voice of a new character named Apollo, and Liz Richman voices Ruth.[S1]
A Second Ted Series for Peacock
This marks the second Ted television project for Peacock. The platform previously aired a live-action prequel series focused on John's high school years, which ran for two seasons. That show featured MacFarlane along with Max Burkholder, Alanna Ubach, Scott Grimes and Giorgia Whigham. MacFarlane has said a third season is not planned because of the series' high cost.[S1]
Creative Team and Franchise History
MacFarlane created the animated series with Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh. Corrigan and Walsh, who were executive producers and showrunners on the prequel, hold the same roles here. Rough Draft Studios handles animation. MacFarlane executive produces through Fuzzy Door with Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, Aimee Carlson and Claudia Katz. Universal Global Television and MRC produce. The original Ted film, released in 2012 on a $65 million budget, grossed nearly $550 million, and the 2015 sequel took in over $215 million. Both were produced by Universal Pictures and MRC Films.[S1]
