Drone bombing, shelling and detonations across the south
An Israeli drone released two bombs on a house in the Nabatieh district, in the area between Shoukin and Mayfadoun, according to Lebanon's official National News Agency. The report said nobody was hurt in that strike. Israeli artillery also fired at intervals on the al-Sawwan area outside Mayfadoun and hit Mansouri in the Tyre district, the agency added.[S1]
Lebanon's National News Agency said Israeli forces detonated two powerful blasts in the al-Ruwais area of Zawtar al-Sharqiya, offering no additional information. In a separate incident, an Israeli air raid hit the edges of Qantara, located in Marjayoun district's Wadi al-Saluki area.[S1]
Elsewhere, a person gathering scrap metal was wounded when an unidentified object blew up at the Deir Kifa junction in the Tyre district, according to the agency, which did not say how serious the injury was.[S1]
The Chronicle PH also reported that Israel had launched new strikes in southern Lebanon while the ceasefire remained under strain.[S2]
A June truce that has not stopped the attacks
Lebanon and Israel reached a US-sponsored agreement on June 26 that envisages a step-by-step Israeli exit from occupied Lebanese land, paired with the arrival of the Lebanese army and the disarmament of armed groups.[S1]
Israeli operations in Lebanon have nonetheless persisted. Since March 2, the attacks have killed at least 4,386 people and wounded 12,407, while more than a million residents have been forced from their homes, according to the agency's figures.[S1]
Israel still holds parts of southern Lebanon, including positions it has controlled for decades and others taken during the 2023-2024 war. In the most recent conflict, its forces pushed roughly 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) into Lebanese territory.[S1]
