Deadly strike in Gaza City

A Palestinian was killed and two others were injured on Tuesday when an Israeli drone struck passers-by in the Sheikh Ajleen area, southwest of Gaza City, according to a medical source. The source described the attack as the latest breach of a ceasefire agreement that remains in effect. The identities of those hit were not provided in the account.[S1]

According to witnesses, Israeli artillery struck additional locations, including the northeastern section of Gaza City and territory east of the Jabalia camp in the northern part of the strip. In central Gaza, military vehicles parked beyond the "yellow line" directed intense fire at zones east of Deir al Balah and the Al Maghazi camp, the witnesses added. Comparable firing occurred in eastern Khan Younis to the south, while shelling was likewise seen offshore from Gaza City and Khan Younis.[S1]

Casualty toll and ceasefire strain

Figures released by the Gaza Health Ministry indicate that 1,372 Palestinians have lost their lives and 4,659 have been wounded as a result of Israeli breaches of the ceasefire since October 2025. These totals pertain specifically to the truce period and are counted separately from the wider conflict's casualties. The ministry's tally situates the most recent fatalities within a recurring series of incidents that the accord was intended to prevent.[S1]

The same ministry data shows that Israel's military operations in Gaza have resulted in close to 74,000 Palestinian deaths and over 174,000 injuries since October 2023. Roughly 90 percent of the enclave's infrastructure has been demolished, according to the ministry. These figures illustrate the extent of the devastation that any durable ceasefire would need to confront.[S1]
