Arrest in Tigre
Simón Alvarenga, the 31-year-old Argentine RKT singer known as Callejero Fino, was arrested this morning in Villa La Ñata, Tigre, after police stopped a Volkswagen Amarok without license plates. The officers identified the occupants and searched the vehicle, finding a .40 caliber Glock pistol with the serial number filed off.[S1][S2]
A 27-year-old man from Presidente Derqui was traveling with the singer. Both were detained, and the weapon and vehicle were seized. The case is being handled by the UFI of Benavídez, led by prosecutor Cosme Iribarren, under the charge of illegal possession of a war weapon.[S1][S2][S5]
Singer's Reaction and Plans
After his arrest, Callejero Fino expressed distress, saying 'I want to kill myself.' He told officers he was on his way to a birthday party for J Rei, the boyfriend of singer María Becerra, at a property in the area. The arrest comes weeks before his scheduled performance at the C Art Media complex in Chacarita.[S1][S3][S5]
The singer remains in custody and is expected to be questioned on Monday. Some reports mention a possible show at the Movistar Arena, but his detention casts doubt on that appearance.[S1][S6]
Past Legal Troubles
This is not Callejero Fino's first encounter with the law. At age 20, he was sentenced to six years in prison for robbery. He spent five months in jail and then served the rest under house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor. During that time, he began focusing on music, writing songs at night.[S1][S5]
His career grew while he was still under house arrest, requiring judicial permission to leave home for shows. In August 2023, he announced he had completed his sentence and regained full freedom. He had previously spoken about the period, saying he ended up in prison for being in the wrong place with the wrong people.[S1][S2][S6]
