No Invitation, Only a Ride to the Theater
Gustavo Yankelevich has rejected the idea that Darío Giordano was invited to ViveRo, the 2018 tribute to Romina Yan held at the Gran Rex theater in Buenos Aires. In a phone interview with Intrusos on América TV, the producer said he had read questions about why his former son-in-law was there and answered that no one had invited him. According to his account, Giordano went because Azul, one of his daughters, was scheduled to perform on stage with her siblings, and he chose to take her himself rather than send her with someone else.[S1][S2]
Yankelevich told journalist Rodrigo Lussich that Giordano waited at the theater after dropping his daughter off and then gave interviews to the press. The producer said the appearance before the media was not the result of any invitation from the family. He also questioned what Giordano said at the time about his relationship with his children, recalling that the businessman spoke as if the boys had been happy living with him, a version Yankelevich said he finds impossible to believe.[S1][S2]
Three Years of Custody Before the Tribute
The producer stressed that Franco and Valentín had already been living with him for three years by the time of the Gran Rex event. He said the contrast between that reality and the image of family harmony Giordano conveyed to the press was stark. Yankelevich explained that the family deliberately avoided publicizing the conflict while the brothers' legal situation was being resolved, arguing that going public would have jeopardized their goal of having him granted custody.[S1][S2]
Yankelevich also recounted how the situation came to light. He said Cris Morena was the first to warn him that something unusual was happening with his grandchildren and urged him to pay attention to them. He described how Franco asked to move in with him without initially explaining why, and later told him that his father had beaten him unconscious after learning of the request. A doctor, he added, explained that Franco's repeated eye-rolling was not a tic but a reaction to blows to the head.[S1]
A Phone Call That Ended the Silence
The producer said his decision to speak publicly was accelerated by a call from the mother of a friend of Valentín, who relayed what the young man had told her by phone. At that point, Yankelevich recalled, he concluded that they had reached the limit and that there was no more time to wait. He said the boys were crying out to be heard, which is why he chose to break the family's silence.[S1]
Yankelevich also described the days after the complaint was filed, saying he stayed close to the brothers and went to their school to be with them. He recalled visiting during the long recess to give Valentín a hug and a kiss so the boy would feel loved. ViveRo, Noche de Sueños took place on September 5, 2018, the date on which the actress would have turned 44, and was organized by Cris Morena and Gustavo Yankelevich. It was broadcast live on Telefe and featured a giant screen at the intersection of Diagonal Norte and Cerrito, with performances by Lali Espósito, Benjamín Rojas, Peter Lanzani, China Suárez, Agustina Cherri, Abel Pintos, Luciano Pereyra, Valeria Lynch, Patricia Sosa, Soledad Pastorutti, Sandra Mihanovich and Gerónimo Rauch. Franco, Valentín and Azul Giordano also took the stage to sing in memory of their mother.[S1]
