Prosecutor's Office Requests Dismissal
The Prosecutor's Office of the Valencian Community has requested the dismissal of a complaint filed against Juanfran Pérez Llorca, president of the Generalitat, regarding a ticket he received to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 final held in New York. On Wednesday, the prosecutor's office submitted its report after the complaint was brought against Llorca and his communications chief for alleged passive bribery and active bribery, among other offenses.[S1][S2][S3][S4][S5][S6][S7]
The complainant entity claimed that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) provided a free ticket for the World Cup final in New York. The complaint emphasized that Llorca's communications chief simultaneously worked at the RFEF Presidency and as a communications advisor to the regional president. Consequently, it argued that she could have facilitated the allocation of the ticket or the management of the invitation.[S1]

Grounds for the Prosecutor's Decision
After reviewing the complaint, the prosecutor's office, in a reasoned decision, requested its inadmissibility and dismissal because the reported facts do not provide sufficient rational indications of a criminal offense. The prosecutor's office based its decision on the lack of a causal connection between the delivery of the ticket and the defendant's office or role; the purely speculative nature of the relationship between the invitation and certain subsidies or aid from the Generalitat to the RFEF; and the merely conjectural nature of the accusation based exclusively on the dual role of the defendant.[S1]
