What happened
A two-year-old boy died Tuesday afternoon after a crash involving a Buenos Aires Province police patrol car in Ingeniero Budge, part of Lomas de Zamora. The incident took place between 2 and 3 p.m. in the Santa Marta neighborhood. According to preliminary information, the child was inside a car with his father when the impact occurred.[S1][S2][S3][S4]
Official sources told Infobae that the police vehicle had been pursuing a motorcycle before the episode. So far, the reasons that triggered that pursuit and how the collision unfolded are not known. It has also not been confirmed what injuries the child suffered, whether he died at the scene, or whether he received medical assistance before his death. One version indicates he was taken to a neighborhood clinic, but that detail has not been verified.[S1]

Investigation and prior incident
Authorities are working to reconstruct the sequence of events, determine which vehicles were involved, and establish the corresponding responsibilities.[S1]
A previous incident in Lomas de Zamora occurred on July 7, 2025, when two municipal patrol cars collided in the Villa Albertina area during a pursuit. That accident was fatal: one officer died on the way to the hospital and three others were injured. The crash happened around 5 a.m. at the intersection of Cosquín and Barcelona. At that time, a municipal Fiat Cronos was providing support in the search for a stolen Peugeot that was fleeing at high speed when it struck a Toyota Hilux belonging to the same force. The driver of the Cronos, identified by his surname as Mendoza, received assistance from firefighters at the scene but died during transport to a hospital.[S1]
