Surprise Encore Edition Adds Four Tracks
Taylor Swift revealed on Wednesday morning that she will release 'The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,' an expanded version of her 2025 album, this Friday. The new edition includes four additional songs: 'Patient Zero,' which she had announced the previous day, along with 'Cleveland!,' 'Pink Clouding,' and 'Babylon.' These tracks are listed as numbers 13 through 16 on the expanded album, according to pre-order pages.[S1]
In a social media post, Swift explained that the new songs emerged from a trip to Sweden with her collaborators Max Martin and Shellback. She said they went to celebrate the album's record-breaking first week and, finding a studio available, decided to write more music. Fans Had Assumed No Deluxe Edition Was Coming
Swift had previously indicated that she was satisfied with the 12-song configuration of 'The Life of a Showgirl' and did not plan to add leftover material. However, that did not rule out creating new songs after the album's release. Eagle-eyed fans had noticed a clue in the music video for the 'Showgirl' single 'Opalite,' where the phrase 'Patient for the encore' appeared beside the frame. More recently, during an Emmys telecast sketch in which she played a 'Law & Order: SVU' detective, Swift delivered seemingly nonsensical phrases that, when the third letter of each was taken, spelled out 'encore.'[S1]

The Encore version is set to arrive on streaming platforms as Thursday turns into Friday, with no physical format confirmed so far. On Apple Music, the listing splits the material into Disc 1, holding the original dozen songs, and Disc 2, containing the four additions, whereas Spotify presents all sixteen tracks together in one sequence. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot the cover art, carrying over the visual style established by the first release.[S1]
The announcement also resolves a point of trivia: Swift had not recently released a stand-alone single ahead of an album, but since the 'Encore' collection arrives at the same time as 'Patient Zero,' she is not breaking with that pattern.
