A Historic Re-Release
The original 'Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope' will be re-released in Imax 70mm on Feb. 19, 2027, for its 50th anniversary. This marks the first time the 1977 classic has been shown in any Imax format. The release will also be available on digital Imax screens.[S1]
The re-release coincides with 'Star Wars: Starfighter,' directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling as a space pilot. The film opens May 28, 2027, exactly 50 years after the original 'Star Wars' debuted in 1977. Both films will be shown in Imax 70mm and digital Imax.[S1]
Starfighter Cast and Story
Gosling plays Kade Auberon, a cynical rogue confronted by his mysterious past, leading to a dangerous adventure across the galaxy. The cast includes Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, Flynn Gray, and Amy Adams.[S1]

Imax 70mm screenings have surged in popularity this year, largely due to Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey.'
