Seattle Storm's Perfect Postseason

On September 16, 2010, the Seattle Storm finished an undefeated playoff run by defeating the Atlanta Dream 87-84, completing a three-game sweep in the WNBA finals. This achievement marked one of the few times a team has gone through the postseason without a loss in major American sports.[S1]

Other Notable Sports Events on September 16

In 1973, O.J. Simpson rushed for 250 yards, leading the Buffalo Bills to a 31-13 victory over the New England Patriots. Two decades later, in 1993, Dave Winfield of the Minnesota Twins became the 19th player in major league history to reach 3,000 hits, achieving the milestone with a single off Oakland's Dennis Eckersley.[S1]

The year 2012 saw a labor disruption as the NHL locked out its players after the collective bargaining agreement expired. That same year, Eli Manning threw for 510 yards, the second-best passing day in New York Giants history, in a 41-34 comeback win over Tampa Bay.[S1]

In 2017, Atlanta United played in front of 70,425 spectators at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the largest crowd for a stand-alone MLS match, as Josef Martinez recorded his second consecutive hat trick in a 3-3 draw with Orlando City. A year later, Scott Dixon secured his fifth IndyCar championship with a second-place finish at Sonoma Raceway, moving into second on the all-time list behind A.J. Foyt.[S1]
