Sanchez fastest in Homestead qualifying
Nick Sanchez will lead the field to the green flag in Friday night's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship Race at Homestead-Miami Speedway after setting the quickest qualifying lap. At the wheel of the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado, the Miami, Florida native stopped the clock at 32.756 seconds, a speed of 164.855 mph that no rival could match.[S1][S7][S8]
The pole is the eighth of Sanchez's Truck Series career and arrives in his 51st start in the series. He now turns his attention to converting that track position into a third career victory, a goal he made clear after qualifying.[S1]
Front row and championship contenders
Chandler Smith, who triumphed in the most recent Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway, qualified on the outside of the front row and will line up alongside Sanchez. Corey Heim, the reigning Truck Series champion, posted the third-fastest time of the session.[S1]
The two drivers fighting for the 2026 title, Layne Riggs and Kaden Honeycutt, qualified fourth and fifth respectively, placing them directly behind Heim on the starting grid for the championship race.[S1]
