The Birthday Portrait
Kensington Palace released a new photograph of Prince George to mark his 13th birthday. The image shows the young prince standing on steps at the palace, wearing a dark suit and an open-necked white shirt with his hands in his pockets. The portrait was taken by photographer Matt Porteous after the Trooping the Colour ceremony in June. This year's portrait is more formal than last year's, which had a rural setting in Norfolk. George, second in line to the throne, turned 13 on 22 July. He was born at St Mary's Hospital in London and spent his early months in Anglesey, Wales, before the family moved to Kensington Palace. Preparing for Secondary School
In September, Prince George will begin his secondary education at Eton College, an elite boarding school in Windsor. He will follow in the footsteps of his father Prince William, his uncle Prince Harry, and his great uncle Earl Spencer, all of whom attended Eton. George will become a boarder at one of the school's 25 boarding houses, each housing approximately 55 students. The transition marks a significant change for George, who has grown noticeably taller in the past year, now nearly as tall as his mother. Prince William has mentioned that George may receive a basic phone without internet access once he starts secondary school.
