The week's releases show how pop's biggest names are increasingly collaborating across genres and borders, while established acts like Justice move into video game scoring, signaling new revenue and creative avenues for musicians.

Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan Reimagine Expectations

Olivia Rodrigo has enlisted Chappell Roan for a remix of her single Expectations. Roan opens the track with a cheeky, sarcastic remark about Rodrigo now doing remixes, and while listeners wait for her next appearance, the second half of the song becomes supercharged. Roan contributes her own verse and takes over a chorus, blending her powerhouse vocals with Rodrigo's. The two match each other in presence and prowess, making the remix an exceptionally fun standout that would likely be a live highlight.[S1][S2][S3][S4]

Tate McRae, Zach Bryan and Angèle Share New Projects

Tate McRae's new single Housewife finds her fantasizing about a life of yachts, loads of cash and precious cars, all shown in the song's video. On the chorus, she sings about wanting to make a lot of money, be her own housewife, and have a partner as sex on the side, over midtempo production. The cover art, featuring McRae pushing a baby carriage full of money, makes clear her focus is on herself and her earnings. She does not need anyone else to provide for her and is not looking to provide for anyone else for now.[S1][S2]

Zach Bryan keeps up his run of joint projects with Young Manhood & Other Donatable Organs, an EP holding eight tracks. Lana Del Rey appears on the wistful Lies, while Turnpike Troubadours join him for Plainsman. The release lands under a year after his 25-song full-length With Heaven on Top opened at the top of the Billboard 200 in January. Though it runs only about 28 minutes, Bryan ranges widely, touching on technology in Robot Killed the Working Man and pushing his sound on cuts such as the pulsing Dog Days. The EP feels lively and new, likely fueled by his thrilling concert performances.[S1][S2]

Angèle, the Belgian pop sensation, puts out her long-awaited third record, Instinct. Back in February she said she was staking a claim to global fame with the release of What You Want, her bold and sultry team-up with Justice. She is already massive in Belgium, having surpassed Stromae's record in 2018 for the most weeks atop the Belgian singles chart with Tout oublier, yet remains less familiar abroad apart from moments such as her 2020 Fever collaboration with Dua Lipa. Instinct makes a persuasive bid for broader attention, with Angèle performing many tracks in English and enlisting top-tier partners like SebastiAn and Caroline Polachek, who contributed to the standout single Love Triangle. The result fuses pop and electronic music in a way that lands and sticks.[S1][S2]

Ashe, Fontaines D.C. and Justice Also Release New Music

Ashe delivers her fourth album, The Girl Of Your Dreams, on the heels of the viral hit single Stop the Wedding!, which has reached a No. 48 peak on the Hot 100. After her 2019 breakthrough with Moral of the Story, Ashe joined forces with her friend and frequent collaborator FINNEAS in 2025 to launch a duo named The Favors. Whereas Wedding leaned on downtempo, swaying pop piano production and follow-up single Funeral slowed things further, stripping Ashe's voice down to just keys for its opening half, the new focus track Lasso the Moon comes across as a shimmering, springy blend reminiscent of a Sienna Spiro and RAYE song, arriving right on cue.[S1][S5]

Fontaines D.C. put out Dopamine Chamber, which hides a pop-leaning core inside Mimesis, a luminous, instantly disarming hook that feels like something you have long known and loved. Its glowing quality shows how, ever since the anthemic Jackie Down the Line burst out at the outset of the band's 2022 Skinty Fia era, the Fontaines D.C. sound has kept holding fascinating tensions: pairing melodic directness with understated vocals and heavy, murky, atmospheric distortion. This track should ignite when the band plays its first stadium shows next summer.[S1][S5]

Justice, joined by Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, release Flower in a Hurricane. With fans waiting on Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games has named Justice as the game's composers, charged with creating an original dynamic score. The electronic pair gives a first preview through the new single, which carries an impressive roster of guests including Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Kevin Parker supported Justice on a three-date Australian tour last year. The moody intro soon swells into a melodic storm of grungy guitars, propulsive drums and glittering synths, all bound together by Kevin Parker and SZA's unexpectedly well-matched vocals.[S1]
