Three new faces for Hogwarts

HBO's Harry Potter television adaptation has added three performers for its second season. Rafe Spall will play Arthur Weasley, Molly Hewitt-Richards will portray Moaning Myrtle, and Jasper Ambrose will take the part of Colin Creevey. Production on the season is already taking place at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom.[S1]

Spall steps into a recurring role that Mark Williams handled across the Harry Potter films. Arthur Weasley is a pure-blood wizard employed by the Ministry of Magic and the father of seven children, among them Ron, who is Harry Potter's closest friend. Spall's previous work includes the Sky series Under Salt Marsh and the Apple TV comedy Trying, and he is represented by B-Side and UTA. His casting follows that of his father, Timothy Spall, who appeared in the franchise as Peter Pettigrew, also known as Wormtail.[S1]

Myrtle, Creevey and the wider cast

Hewitt-Richards, previously seen in the BritBox show Code of Silence and on the BBC's Casualty, takes on the role of the spirit that appears in the girls' lavatory on Hogwarts' second floor. In the film adaptations, that part belonged to Shirley Henderson. Curtis Brown Group represents Hewitt-Richards. Ambrose, whose work includes The Sheep Detectives, is set to portray Creevey, a role Deadline had reported HBO was seeking to fill. Creevey debuts in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, frequently trailing Potter around the grounds with his camera in admiration. Hugh Mitchell brought the Muggle-born Gryffindor to the screen in the 2002 Chamber of Secrets film, though the character was absent from later installments. Sylvia Young Agency represents Ambrose.[S1]

These three actors are added to a Season 2 roster of new faces that already features Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley, Lenny Rush as Dobby and Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle. Among the returning players are Dominic McLaughlin (Harry Potter), Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger), Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley), John Lithgow (Albus Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (Minerva McGonagall), Paapa Essiedu (Severus Snape) and Nick Frost (Rubeus Hagrid). Francesca Gardiner serves as writer and executive producer. Mark Mylod executive produces and directs several episodes for HBO, working alongside Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, plus David Heyman of Heyday Films, also hold executive producer credits.[S1]
