Incident Details
On Friday at approximately 15:40 BST, a Metropolitan Police boat from the Marine Policing Unit struck Westminster Bridge in central London. The vessel was carrying armed officers. Five officers were injured, with a number entering the water before being recovered. No members of the public are believed to have been involved. The bridge crosses the River Thames next to the Houses of Parliament. The officers were seen being treated by paramedics on a rigid black inflatable boat. Response and Investigation
Emergency services responded quickly, including the London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, and HM Coastguard. A police helicopter and air ambulance were circling above. Westminster Bridge was cordoned off, causing traffic disruption and closure of some tube station entrances.
