Star Replacement and Fan Tributes
Following the vandalism of Dolly Parton's Hollywood Walk of Fame star after her passing, a new one has been installed. The original, dating from 1984, had been adorned with flowers and candles by admirers. According to Ana Martinez from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the replacement will be unveiled to the public on Friday.[S1]
Martinez said that tribute items left on the star were cleared before the replacement work, which had already been planned to repair cracks before the vandalism occurred. The Hollywood Walk of Fame features more than 2,800 stars along Hollywood Boulevard, recognizing achievements across the entertainment industry.[S1]
Tributes and Dollywood Honors
Parton, known for hits like 9 to 5 and Jolene, died last week at age 80, prompting tributes from the music world and beyond. The following evening, her niece Jada Star performed at a tribute concert at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House, often considered the home of country music.[S1]
Dollywood, Parton's theme park, is introducing tributes to its founder, whom she affectionately called the "dreamer-in-chief." Acquired by Parton in 1982 as her version of Disneyland, the park has grown into Tennessee's leading paid attraction, welcoming around four million guests each year.[S1]
The park plans to install stained-glass windows featuring a verse from Ecclesiastes that Parton cherished: "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Additionally, to celebrate her dedication to children and her Imagination Library initiative, Dollywood will debut a new character, the Dream Maker, in the coming year.[S1]
