A 17-year gap ends with Lost in the Night
Dead Man's Bones, the rock duo of Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields, has issued a new song called Lost in the Night, its first release in 17 years. The pair's only album, a self-titled record made with the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir, arrived in 2009. The band's Instagram account began teasing fresh music on Oct. 22, and Eva Mendes, Gosling's partner, took part in the post that promoted the video.[S1][S2][S3][S5][S6][S7][S8]
A graveyard video with two young leads
The accompanying clip features Rain Spencer, known for The Summer I Turned Pretty, and Noah Jupe, whose credits include Hamnet and Avengers: Secret Wars. It begins with Spencer moving through a cemetery in black and white, then shifts to Jupe resting on a bench. Before the video, Spencer and Jupe had worked together in a two-person theatrical workshop for a play written by Shields.[S1][S4]
What Gosling and Shields have lined up next
Gosling, who sang I'm Just Ken at the 2024 Oscars and showed his musical and dance abilities in La La Land, has Star Wars: Starfighter due next year and a new Ghost Rider film from Marvel scheduled for 2028. Shields is writing the screenplay for Gladys, a prequel to Weapons, with Zach Cregger. He produced Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire after co-writing Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Krampus for Universal with Michael Dougherty.[S1]
Spencer has joined The Maid of Orleans, now filming in Paris under director Sarah Elizabeth Mintz, reuniting the actress with the Good Girl Jane filmmaker. She recently finished Little Five, produced by Anne Hathaway and starring Ariana Greenblatt, and appears in the Jane Campion-produced Big Girls Don't Cry, directed by Paloma Schneideman, which premiered at Sundance this year. She will reprise Taylor Jewel in the Summer I Turned Pretty movie for Amazon MGM and lead an adaptation of E. Lockhart's Genuine Fraud. Jupe appears in Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.[S1]
