A Difficult Weekend for Colapinto
Franco Colapinto endured a forgettable Saturday at the Singapore Grand Prix. He had to retire from the Sprint race shortly after it began due to a suspected power failure, and then experienced a significant drop in performance during Q2 of qualifying, which left him with the worst time of that session. Alpine team boss Steve Nielsen commented on the situation. Colapinto himself described his qualifying elimination as a disaster.[S1][S2]
In the only practice session, Colapinto finished 19th, and he qualified 11th for the Sprint. However, after George Russell received a penalty and will start from the last position, Colapinto moved up one place on the grid. He will now start the race from 15th, with 27 championship points to his name, and will need to make up ground to score points in Singapore.[S1][S2]
