Plea and Charges
Chris Brown, 37, pleaded guilty to affray on Friday at Southwark Crown Court in a hearing lasting less than five minutes. His co-defendant, 40-year-old Omololu Akinlolu, who performs as Hoody Baby, also pleaded guilty to the same charge. The court dropped charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, attempted grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon, which both had denied.[S1][S4][S6]
Nightclub Confrontation
The charges stem from an incident at the Tape private members' club in Mayfair, London, on February 19, 2023, where Brown allegedly struck former friend Abraham Diaw twice on the head with a glass bottle. Prosecutor Heidi Stonecliffe described it as an 'unprovoked attack.' The victim suffered a head injury and a minor knee injury requiring hospital treatment.[S3][S4][S6]
Sentencing and Bail Conditions
Judge Tony Baumgartner scheduled the sentencing hearing for October 26. Brown was ordered to pay a £5 million security fee as part of his bail conditions, which allowed him to continue his world tour provided he surrendered his passport in each country. He was released on bail again after the hearing.[S1][S5][S6]
