Transfer details and contract
Como have signed defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea on a five-year contract, the Serie A club announced on Sunday. Financial details were not disclosed, but British media reported that Como paid 30 million euros (USD 34.67 million) plus add-ons for the England international. Other reports suggest the deal could be worth more than £30m, with an initial £25.7m and a further £5.1m in add-ons.[S1][S3]
The 27-year-old has signed a contract until 2031 with the Italian club. According to reports, the agreement includes a €30m fixed fee, €6m add-ons, and a sell-on clause. Chalobah had already agreed personal terms on a long-term contract with the ambitious Italian club several weeks ago, paving the way for the transfer to be completed once the club-to-club fee was settled.[S4][S6]
Chalobah's Chelsea career
Chalobah leaves Chelsea after making 47 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three goals and providing one assist. His departure follows the London club's signing of defender Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace. A product of Chelsea's academy, Chalobah also spent time on loan at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, Lorient and Crystal Palace before establishing himself in the first team.[S1][S6]
During his time at Chelsea, Chalobah made 151 appearances in all competitions and won five trophies, including the FA Cup in 2018 and Conference League in 2025. He also twice lifted the Club World Cup. He was part of England's World Cup squad this summer after being called up as an injury replacement for Tino Livramento and came on as a late substitute in the 6-4 third-place play-off win over France.[S3][S4]
Reactions and new challenge
Como head coach Cesc Fabregas told his club's website: "Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club. He has competed and won at the highest level, but he is also hungry to begin a new chapter and continue improving. He gives us strength, speed and personality in defence, as well as the technical quality to build from the back. He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como."[S3][S4]
Chalobah said: "I'm thrilled and honoured to be here at Como. It's an ambitious, rising project and working with manager Cesc Fabregas again is truly special. I can't wait to bring my experience to the team, feel the incredible atmosphere at the stadium, and connect with the fans. I will give my absolute all every single day to make history together."[S3][S4]
