Accidental leak on official channel
The official YouTube account for the Brisbane 2032 Games let the Olympic and Paralympic logos slip out on Friday, ahead of the scheduled Monday ceremony by three days. An "emblem explainer" clip was briefly made public, displaying the finished designs in the video's upper right area. The Olympic version depicts a pink cockatoo, while the Paralympic version shows a sulphur-crested cockatoo, and the accompanying description explained what inspired the artwork.[S1]
Committee confirms with Instagram post
On Saturday morning, the committee shared both logos in full on Instagram, marking the official reveal. The post elaborated that the emblems draw inspiration from the reef, beaches, hinterland, and the essence of Queensland, capturing the places, people, and spirit that will embody the event until 2032. The committee described them as unique, quintessentially Queensland, and slightly playful.[S1]
Minister downplays leak, emphasizes public excitement
Queensland's Olympic minister, Tim Mander, addressed the accidental leak on Nine's Today Show on Saturday morning. He played down the incident, expressing excitement that the emblem was finally revealed. Mander mentioned that over the past week, the emblem had been gradually unveiled along the Queensland coast, from Cairns and Townsville to Rockhampton, the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast. Today host Alison Piotrowski suggested this was a way to spin the situation. Mander acknowledged that people might speculate about the leak's intentionality, but he attributed it to the enthusiasm of those eager to find the emblem, who searched the internet and stumbled upon it. He emphasized that the leak was brief and that the logo is now public.[S1]
Upcoming launch and stadium development
Mander said the Monday event will present the emblem's backstory along with an animated concept. Meanwhile, work has begun on the 2032 Olympic Park Stadium in Brisbane. The Queensland government shared design renderings in August for a parkland area around the venue, a move meant to ease worries about losing green space in the inner city. Some critics have dismissed the proposals as unrealistic.[S1]
