What the government approved
Argentina's national government has authorized an Extraordinary Pension Bonus of up to 70,000 pesos for October, according to Decree 1108/2026 published in the Official Gazette. The measure covers retirees and pensioners receiving contributory benefits, the Universal Pension for the Elderly (PUAM) and various non-contributory pensions administered by the National Social Security Administration (ANSES). The decree states the supplement is paid per beneficiary and requires the benefit to be active during the same month it is credited.[S1][S2]
Beneficiaries whose combined benefits do not exceed the minimum pension will receive the full bonus, deposited together with their October payment. For those above that threshold, the reinforcement is reduced proportionally so that total income does not surpass the minimum pension plus the 70,000-peso cap. To determine eligibility and amount, ANSES will consider the total of all active pension benefits received by the same person, rather than evaluating each benefit separately.[S1][S2]
Who receives it and how it is paid
The bonus is non-remunerative, cannot be subject to deductions and is not counted toward any other concept, so it is credited as an additional payment independent of the monthly benefit. Among those covered are holders of contributory benefits under Law 24.241, previous national regimes, special systems already repealed, and provincial and municipal pension funds transferred to the nation. Also included are PUAM beneficiaries created by Law 27.260, and recipients of non-contributory pensions for old age, disability and mothers of seven or more children, as well as other non-contributory and graciable pensions paid by the agency.[S1][S2][S3]
The Chief of Staff's office must make the necessary budget adjustments to fund the payment, while ANSES is authorized to issue complementary rules, manage liquidation, conduct controls and recover any improper collections. The measure follows the government's confirmation of a 1.66% increase for retirees next month, in line with the latest inflation data. With that rise, the minimum pension stands at 435,748.51 pesos and the maximum at 2,932,174.85 pesos. The adjustment applies to pensions, the Universal Basic Benefit and PUAM.[S1][S3]
October pension amounts and payment schedule
With the 1.6% increase and excluding the extraordinary bonus for the lowest earners, October benefits are set as follows: the minimum pension at 435,748.51 pesos; the maximum pension at 2,932,174.85 pesos; the Universal Pension for the Elderly (PUAM) at 348,598.81 pesos; non-contributory pensions (PNC) at 305,023.96 pesos; and the Universal Basic Benefit (PBU) at 199,335.05 pesos. Adding the 70,000-peso bonus, the minimum pension reaches 505,748.51 pesos.[S3]
Payment dates for October 2026 are organized by DNI ending: retirees and pensioners who do not exceed the minimum pension will be paid from October 8 to 22; holders of non-contributory pensions (PNC) from October 8 to 14; and recipients of the Universal Child Allowance (AUH), Universal Pregnancy Allowance (AUE) and family child allowance from October 8 to 22, all according to DNI termination.[S3]
