A Month of Official Engagements

The Duke of Sussex has now locked in his initial set of official UK appearances since coming back, with the Invictus Spirit Awards on Sept. 17 kicking things off. According to the Telegraph, the 41-year-old will additionally be present at the debut of INSPIRE, the Invictus education initiative. On Friday he also put out a statement about going to the WellChild Awards in London on Sept. 21. The Telegraph adds that he is set to join the Clinton Global Initiative's annual gathering in New York on Sept. 22 and 23.[S1]

WellChild Patron and Family Tensions

Since 2007 Harry has served as patron of WellChild, and at the previous year's event he gave a hint that his family would be coming back to the UK. In his remarks, he said it is a privilege to take part in the WellChild Awards and to encounter the children, young people, families and professionals whose bravery and resolve serve as an inspiration. He observed that this edition carries extra meaning because the charity marks 20 years of its WellChild Nurse program — two decades of backing thousands of children and families and enabling them to spend more of their lives at home. He described the awards as a great chance to honor that impact and the remarkable people behind it, saying their stories vividly show what compassion, connection and community can accomplish.[S1]

A source connected to the Sussexes told the Telegraph that, regrettably, the Invictus Games competitors are the ones who will bear the brunt. Harry, Meghan Markle and their two children have now spent a fortnight on the other side of the Atlantic. The pair had previously made their home in Montecito, California, for six years. Relations between them and King Charles are already strained.[S1]
