A signed handover that still has to clear conditions
Nissan confirmed that it will transfer distribution of its vehicles, spare parts and accessories in Argentina to Grupo SIMPA and Grupo Tagle, a commercial model change that must be completed before the end of 2026. The definitive agreements have already been signed, though their execution depends on the fulfillment of prior conditions set out in the contracts. The official statement released on Wednesday does not specify the value of the transaction or report any labor changes tied to the handover.[S1][S2][S3]
Once the agreement takes effect, Grupo SIMPA and Grupo Tagle will represent Nissan in the country. The two companies will take charge of brand management, development of the product offering and distribution through the dealership network. The transfer is not immediate: until the legal processes of the operation are formalized, Nissan Argentina continues to operate exactly as it has until now.[S1]
The automaker said the transition will keep the commercial and after-sales network running. Customers will retain access to the current and future vehicle catalog, warranties, spare parts, accessories, service channels and the Nissan savings plan. Although the parties signed definitive agreements, the change is not complete. Nissan said the closing is subject to conditions precedent, a common formula in commercial operations that implies requirements set in the contracts before the transfer becomes effective. The automaker did not disclose what those conditions are or a specific date for meeting them.[S1]
What the new representatives will handle
The representation that Grupo SIMPA and Grupo Tagle will assume covers vehicles, spare parts and accessories of the brand. Nissan stressed that the two companies will bring their knowledge of the local market to the new model, while the company keeps regional management of the brand through NIBU. That Nissan Latin America unit brings together operations in more than 30 markets that run under the importer system.[S1]
The announced scheme envisages an uninterrupted transition for those who already own a Nissan vehicle and for those considering buying one. The company said warranty coverage, maintenance and after-sales services, the supply of spare parts and accessories, service channels and the dealership network across the country will remain available. Continuity of the Nissan savings plan is among the points the company included. The statement does not specify whether there will be changes in the administration of existing plans, in delivery times or in the contractual relationship with subscribers. Nor does it detail changes in the dealership structure or in the teams that currently make up the local operation.[S1]
Re:Nissan sets the regional frame for the change
The decision falls within Re:Nissan, the global strategy the company presented in May 2025. According to the firm, the plan aims to raise the competitiveness and efficiency of its operations, with more agile structures in the markets where it participates. Within that framework, the agreement in Argentina seeks a more efficient operation and adds to the company's regional reorganization.[S1]
The company had already stopped manufacturing its Frontier pickup in Argentina in October 2025, which represented the first step toward withdrawing its local subsidiary, just as happened in Chile and Peru over the past year and a half. Once the new scheme is consolidated, Argentina will be incorporated into Nissan Importers Business Unit (NIBU), the regional unit that administers more than 30 importer markets in Latin America.[S1]
Next week, on Thursday, October 15, an event will be held in Buenos Aires with the participation of regional spokespeople, Guy Rodriguez, the President of Nissan Latin America Juan Manuel Hoyos, President of NIBU, as well as Ricardo Flamini, current President of Nissan Argentina, together with representatives of the two business groups that will take over Nissan's representation before the end of the current calendar year.[S1]
In the press release, Flammini said the agreement seeks to sustain the terminal's presence in the local market. He described the signing of these agreements as an important step in the evolution of their business in Argentina. He also expressed that combining Nissan's global capabilities with the local experience and knowledge of Grupo SIMPA and Grupo Tagle will help strengthen their operation, ensure the continuity of the brand and keep offering products, services and valuable experiences for their customers.[S1]
