Untold to Examine Daejon Love's Impersonation Scheme
The Untold documentary franchise from Netflix is set to focus its next film on Daejon Love, a man who swindled women by claiming to be a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver. The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively that the installment carries the title Untold: Wide Deceiver. Per the report, the project will be narrated by the people directly impacted by the scheme, examining both the nickname that spread online and the much grimmer reality behind it.[S1][S2]
Love was taken into custody on August 24, 2026, facing a wire fraud charge, after several women who say they were his victims contacted authorities. Before that arrest, a wave of social media clips, images, and private messages Love sent to women and companies promoting himself as a 49ers receiver spread widely online. One frequently shared clip featured Love catching passes and running routes on a beach while wearing a 49ers helmet, which he reportedly kept with him nearly all the time.[S1]
A second post that circulated widely showed a cake decorated like a San Francisco number 7 jersey, which Love said the 49ers had given him for his birthday. San Francisco does have a real wide receiver in number 7: De'Zhaun Stribling switched from 15 during the preseason, as news of Love's scheme was spreading, and took 7 for the regular season. Sales of that 49ers number 7 jersey climbed around the same period. Love's messages to businesses frequently asked for extravagant perks, such as complimentary products and services plus a personal security team.[S1]
Untold: Wide Deceiver has no director or confirmed participants at this point, though a source close to the production indicates the film will center on the women and their accounts, probably leaving Daejon out. The project comes from Propagate and Stardust Frames, working with North of Now and The Cut. Executive producers include Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Maclain Way, Chapman Way, Ryan Duffy, Isabel San Vargas, Aaron Ginsburg, William Green, Andrew Renzi, and Nick Boak. The Way Brothers created Untold, which Netflix calls a deep dive into the extraordinary, wild world of sports, told through raw first-person perspectives from those at the center of the action.[S1]
