Second Season Confirmed
A second season of the YA drama Crew Girl is coming to Netflix. Vivian Lin wrote the series, which is a breezy coming-of-age teen story following Teagan, a 16-year-old girl who rows and ends up steering a troubled all-boys crew at a prestigious prep school on the East Coast. Rivalries, tangled romances, and friendships that sour create conflict on and off the water, as does her strained bond with her mother, Ella.[S1]
During season one, Teagan proves herself a genuine leader even though she auditioned for the all-girls' crew at Gravenhurst Academy, an opportunity that came through Britney, the twibling of her teammate Baloo Garner. She considers leaving Easton Prep for a short while, but another teammate, nicknamed Crab Catcher, persuades her to remain.[S1]
Cast and Characters
Miku Martineau stars as Teagan, Jessica Paré plays her mother Ella, Sam Braun is Josh Regis, Kyle Clark is Cam Dillinger, and Thomas Cadrot appears as Coach Hayden. Season one built a love triangle involving Teagan, Josh, and Cam, ending with a tender kiss between Teagan and Cam in the finale after her casual fling with Josh. Once she kisses Cam, Britney returns with her all-girls rowing team offer, now at Easton Prep. Britney had dated Josh early in season one, but they split at the Fall Formal before he and Teagan became involved.[S1]
Unresolved Storylines
It is still unclear whether Teagan can continue coxing the boys while also rowing on the girls team alongside Britney. Josh is also dealing with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, HOCM, which could keep him out of the boat entirely next season. Lin said the show treats it seriously and that there are ways to address it, though she avoided spoilers. She added that it is serious and that neither viewers nor Josh know what it means for his life, his family, or what he shares with others if he is not a rower.[S1]
