Oilers extend streak behind McDavid's playmaking
Connor McDavid collected his 13th point of the season and his 10th assist as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the San Jose Sharks 3-1 on Saturday, extending their winning streak to four games. Vasily Podkolzin scored his fifth goal of the season, while Mattias Ekholm and Alex Formenton also found the net for Edmonton. Goaltender Tristan Jarry turned aside 19 shots in the win.[S1]
Sharks' Celebrini returns and scores
Macklin Celebrini rejoined San Jose's lineup after sitting out two games with a lower-body injury. The Sharks captain scored his first goal of the season midway through the third period, cutting into Edmonton's lead.[S1]
Ekholm opened the scoring at 12:37 of the first period. Podkolzin doubled the advantage 3:13 into the third, with McDavid providing the assist, and Formenton made it 3-0 on a backhand shot roughly two minutes later. Celebrini's goal got San Jose on the board, but the Sharks could not complete the comeback. Yaroslav Askarov made 17 saves for San Jose.[S1]
