Jarvis Surges Ahead at St Andrews

Casey Jarvis will take a two-shot lead into the final round of the Dunhill Links Championship after a bogey-free seven-under 65 on the Old Course on Saturday. The South African began his round on the 10th hole and holed out for eagle from about six feet after his wedge spun back into the cup. He followed with a tee shot over the Strath bunker to four feet on the par-three 11th, then two-putted for birdie on the 14th to reach five under through five holes. He finished the day at 18 under overall.[S1]

Jarvis, who won the Kenya Open and South African Open in consecutive weeks in February, said he expects to feel pressure in the final round but believes his two victories this year have helped him handle it better. He described the prospect of leading at the Old Course on Sunday as a dream for any golfer and said he was getting goosebumps just standing there. He added that he plans to enjoy the experience as much as possible, win or lose.[S1]

Chasing Pack and LIV Golf Presence

Adrian Meronk of Poland, one of 22 LIV Golf players in the field, birdied his opening four holes at Kingsbarns and eagled late in a round of 63 to sit two shots behind. Matthew Jordan of England also finished two back after a 66. Thomas Detry of Belgium, another LIV player, was a further shot adrift following a 65 at St Andrews. Matt Fitzpatrick, who won in France last week, started with six birdies in his first seven holes but finished with a 66 and ended six shots behind, level with defending champion Robert MacIntyre. Five-time major winner Brooks Koepka shot 70 on the Old Course and was eight back.[S1]

Meronk said he intends to play every week he can on the DP World Tour, hoping to finish high enough in the Race to Dubai to secure his card for 2027 and keep his options open depending on what happens with LIV. He noted that he has been playing well over the past couple of weeks without getting full results and expressed hope that this week would be different, while planning to simply play his game on Sunday and see where he ends up. The final round will be played at St Andrews.[S1]
