Rumor and denial
Emilia Mernes' press team has issued a statement denying reports that linked the singer to an alleged approach toward footballer Rodrigo de Paul at a party. The statement came after journalist Gustavo Méndez, on the show La Mañana con Moria (eltrece), described a scene in which the artist from Nogoyá supposedly tried to kiss the World Cup champion in a bathroom during a social gathering.[S1]
According to Méndez, the party included the player, Tini Stoessel, Mernes, Duki, and others. He claimed the footballer went to the bathroom, Mernes followed, and they bumped into each other casually upon his exit. Méndez said Mernes 'threw her mouth' at De Paul, and that he later approached Tini's friends to clarify, saying he did nothing and asking them not to tell Tini. The journalist said he got this information from De Paul's side.[S1]
Reactions and statement
Panelist Nazarena Di Serio reacted live, calling Mernes 'a piece of daring' if the story were true. Host Moria Casán drew parallels to a previous episode involving Stoessel and Cami Homs, ending with 'a bancársela' (deal with it).[S1]
Vicky Roa, Mernes' music and entertainment press representative, published the denial on Instagram. The statement said the spread of 'false information' by certain media showed 'evident intent to defame' without any prior verification. The statement did not directly reference Méndez's account or name De Paul, but came hours after the rumor circulated in media and social networks. It ended thanking those who work with seriousness and rigor. Neither Mernes, De Paul, nor Stoessel have personally commented on the rumor.[S1]
The rumor adds to a months-long feud between Mernes and Stoessel, including claims that Mernes tried to take Stoessel's dancers and revealed intimate confidences. A photo Mernes posted with De Paul's father, amid Stoessel's family financial conflict, was also seen as provocative. Stoessel performed in Guadalajara under strict security, without press activities or fan meetings.[S2]
