Early blitz sets the tone

Chelsea took control of the match from the opening minutes at Stamford Bridge. Jordan Henderson scored after two minutes following a move that began in Chelsea's own half, and Morgan Rogers doubled the lead almost immediately with a cross-shot. That early burst allowed the home side to dictate the tempo and manage their advantage. Bournemouth struggled to cope with the intensity and found themselves two goals down before they could settle into the game.[S1]

Bournemouth gradually grew into the contest midway through the first half and began to find spaces in behind Chelsea's defence. Their best chances fell to Rayan, who was played through by a filtered pass from Ryan Christie, but Emiliano Dibu Martínez came out quickly to deny him. Christie then pounced on the rebound and forced another save from the Argentine, who guessed the direction correctly. Martínez also dealt with a header from Fabio Silva before the break, preserving Chelsea's two-goal cushion.[S1][S2]

Second-half goals seal the rout

Chelsea struck again right after the interval. Joao Pedro tapped in from close range after a fine individual run by Pedro Neto, making it 3-0. Bournemouth responded five minutes later when Evanilson scored from a corner delivered by Marcus Tavernier and flicked on by Christie. The goal ended Martínez's hopes of a clean sheet, but it did little to change the overall flow of the match.[S1][S2]

Joao Pedro restored Chelsea's three-goal advantage with his second of the game, this time assisted by Pep Chavarría. Henderson then completed the scoring at the 70-minute mark with a direct free kick. The 5-1 result gave Chelsea a much-needed win after three matches without victory and lifted them into the qualification places for European competitions. Bournemouth, meanwhile, remained 18th in the table, inside the relegation zone.[S1][S2]

Martínez's mixed record and Barco's absence

Since joining Chelsea, Emiliano Martínez has made five appearances, recording two wins, two losses and one draw, while conceding 11 goals. He has yet to keep a clean sheet for his new club, although he kept three clean sheets in Argentina's recent friendlies against Bolivia, Burkina Faso and Benin. Valentín Barco was not included in Xabi Alonso's squad for this match.[S2]
