Bautista's Training Update
Dave Bautista is seriously committed to getting in shape for his part as Kratos in Prime Video's God of War series. On Wednesday, he shared a video on Instagram displaying his physical changes as he gears up to embody the fierce Spartan warrior in the live-action version of the well-known video game series. In the footage, he shows off his muscles and shouts.[S1]
In the caption, Bautista mentioned he's back in weight training for the third week and has two more months to reach his target, likening it to riding a bike. The ex-WWE star had trimmed down from his wrestling build for recent movies like The Killer's Game, Trap House, and The Wrecking Crew, but now he seems to be adding muscle again for God of War.[S1]
Casting and Production Details
Last month, it was revealed that Bautista, known for his role as Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, would replace Ryan Hurst in the lead role after Hurst tore a bicep while performing a stunt on set. Bautista joins a cast that includes Callum Vinson, Mandy Patinkin, Ed Skrein, Max Parker, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Teresa Palmer, Alastair Duncan, Jeff Gulka, and Danny Woodburn.[S1]
The show centers on Kratos and his son Atreus as they travel to scatter the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Along the way, Kratos aims to guide his son to be a better deity, while Atreus helps his father become more human. The series will draw mainly from the franchise's latest two games, which introduced Atreus.[S1]
God of War, with Ronald D. Moore as showrunner, is scheduled to return to production in Vancouver this fall.[S1]
