Chase Infiniti's Next Move
For her first on-screen part since her breakthrough in the best picture Oscar winner One Battle After Another, Chase Infiniti has signed on to lead Portrait of God. The horror project is described as enigmatic, comes from up-and-coming filmmaker Dylan Clark, and was penned by Clark alongside Joe Russo. While the story remains under wraps, insiders say it offers a fresh angle on religious horror. Clark previously put a short of the same title online in 2022, drawing millions of viewers.[S1]
Infiniti's rise came through Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, which served as her first feature and collected six Academy Awards. A second film, The Julia Set, was completed before that movie turned her into a known name; it has just premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is still seeking distribution.[S1]
From Universal to Lionsgate
The project had previously been housed at Universal, which quietly dropped it earlier in the year, opening the door for Lionsgate to step in and give it a green light. Its producing roster is star-studded: Sam Raimi through Ghost House Pictures and Jordan Peele via Monkeypaw, the first occasion the two genre heavyweights have worked together.[S1]
Rounding out the producing team are Ghost House's Rob Tapert, Monkeypaw's Win Rosenfeld, and Russo. Romel Adam and Jose Cañas are handling oversight for Ghost House. On the Monkeypaw side, Chris Rosati takes an executive producer credit through his first-look arrangement under his NAT20 Films label.[S1]
Dylan Clark's Rising Career
Clark is an emerging talent who built his reputation by uploading intense short horror films to YouTube, where they drew millions of views. That exposure brought Hollywood calling, and ahead of Portrait he will helm his first feature, a Blair Witch Project reboot for Lionsgate and Blumhouse Atomic Monster. The deal reflects a broader scramble for young horror creators, as Curry Barker's Obsession and Kane Parson's Backrooms became summer sensations.[S1]
Reactions from Lionsgate and Clark
Adam Fogelson, who heads Lionsgate's film division, said he was pleased to expand the studio's working relationship with Dylan Clark, describing him as among the most thrilling new voices in the horror space. With Raimi and Peele producing, Infiniti in the lead, and Clark directing, Fogelson said the pieces are in place for something chilling, provocative, and genuinely frightening.[S1]
Clark remarked that working on Blair Witch has shown him directly how much faith Lionsgate invests in its filmmakers, and he was thrilled that Portrait of God likewise landed at the studio. He also extended a welcome to Infiniti, recalling that her performance in One Battle After Another left him stunned and calling her one of today's most promising young performers.[S1]
Scott O'Brien is set to oversee the production. Dan Freedman handled negotiations on behalf of the studio, and Brandon Hill was the one who brought the project to Lionsgate. Clark's representation includes UTA, 3 Arts, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis. Infiniti is represented by Gersh, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and the Lede Company.[S1]
