How the Series Stands Entering Game 5

The Milwaukee Brewers are in the World Series for the first time since 1982, and they hold a 3-1 lead over the Tampa Bay Rays as the series shifts to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg for Game 5 on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Every game in the series is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Tampa Bay stayed alive by winning Game 4 4-3 in the 12th inning on Tuesday night, a result that forced the fifth game.[S1][S2][S4][S5]

If the series returns to Milwaukee, Game 6 would be played Friday, Oct. 30, and Game 7 Saturday, Oct. 31, both at American Family Field. The Rays are pursuing something no club has done in Major League Baseball history: coming back from a 3-0 deficit to win the World Series. Milwaukee's last appearance in the Fall Classic came in 1982, when the team was still in the American League and met the St. Louis Cardinals.[S1][S6][S7]

Pitching Decision and Milwaukee's Hot Bats

Pat Murphy said Jacob Misiorowski will start Game 5 for Milwaukee. The Brewers have five hitters batting above .300 in the series, giving several of them a case for World Series MVP. Jackson Chourio leads the group with a .500 average, 10 hits, three stolen bases and two runs batted in, while William Contreras is hitting .412 with seven hits and three RBIs. Cooper Pratt homered in the top of the 12th on Tuesday and is batting .375.[S1]

Aaron Ashby set a postseason record for scoreless innings by a reliever on Tuesday night. He has not surrendered a run across 18 innings, moving past the mark Andrew Miller established in 2016.[S1]

What Fans Should Know Before Heading Out

Milwaukee has not announced a watch party plan for a potential Game 5, and Games 3 and 4 were sold out. Single-game postseason tickets remain limited but obtainable through MLB.com, with digital delivery via the MLB Ballpark App within 96 hours of first pitch; Seat Geek listings exist, though buyers are warned about scams. American Family Field's bag rules permit clear single-compartment bags up to 12 by 12 by 6 inches, non-clear bags up to 9 by 5 by 2 inches, or a one-gallon clear resealable bag, with exceptions for diaper bags and medically necessary items.[S1]

Gates at American Family Field open three hours before first pitch and parking lots four hours before, per MLB. The Brewers operate 16 lots with 12,000 stalls, and shuttle service runs from a long list of bars and restaurants. Construction on I-94 East-West between 70th and 16th Streets continues in Milwaukee County, though the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said all General Mitchell Boulevard ramps will be open on Brewers home playoff dates.[S1]

New Attractions and a Look Back at 1982

Visitors to American Family Field this year can find The Alley Food Truck Park, which added K&L's BBQ to its local food, candy and ice cream offerings. The UW Credit Union Plaza opened in June 2026, the Aurora Health Care Glove Playground has been updated with interactive games, and the Fair Food Stands sell items including deep-fried kringle, nachos on a stick, corn dogs and cream puffs. Team stores at the Left-Field Gate and Home Plate Gate closed Thursday amid unprecedented demand for World Series merchandise and were to stay shut Friday morning before reopening to ticketed fans at Game 1.[S1]

Much has changed since Milwaukee's last World Series. In 1982, Olivia Newton-John's Physical topped the year's songs, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was the top-grossing film and a movie ticket cost $1.50. The Brewers then played in the American League behind AL MVP Robin Yount and faced the Cardinals, who would become NL Central rivals; neither league had a Central Division at the time.[S1]
