A Five-Year Run Comes to an End
Brad Keselowski, the 2011 NASCAR Cup Series champion, will leave RFK Racing at the conclusion of the 2026 season, both the driver and the team confirmed on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The announcement closes a five-year association during which Keselowski took over the iconic No. 6 car. Keselowski, 42, still holds an ownership interest in the organization, and the team's news release stated that the two sides intend to work through the appropriate next steps regarding that stake collaboratively and mutually.[S1]
The RFK Racing president described the organization as big fans of Keselowski as a person, driver, and colleague, and said his impact has been felt by everyone associated with the team. The president added that Keselowski has been a terrific representative of the team's collective efforts both on and off the track, expressed tremendous respect for him, and said the organization is grateful for the energy and commitment he brought to RFK Racing.[S1]
Keselowski's Record and Next Steps
During his five seasons in the No. 6 car, Keselowski won one race and recorded 55 top-10 finishes. Over the same span, RFK Racing won seven races with the help of his guidance. Despite the split, Keselowski said in his own statement that he is nowhere near ready to be done as a driver. He also said he is incredibly proud of what the team accomplished at RFK over the past five years and grateful for the people he had the opportunity to work alongside, adding that he still has a lot he wants to accomplish in the sport and is looking forward to what comes next.[S1]
Keselowski will run the final six races of the 2026 season with RFK Racing. He has not yet announced any future plans. NASCAR Cup Series drivers will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 4, when they head west to Las Vegas Motor Speedway.[S1]
