Chicago Secures Moore Through His Prime Years
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed forward Oliver Moore to a five-year, $21.25 million contract, the team announced Thursday. The agreement takes effect next season and carries an average annual value of $4.25 million. Moore, who turns 21 this year, was playing on the final season of a three-year, $2.85 million entry-level deal he signed on March 29, 2025, and would otherwise have been a restricted free agent.[S1]
In 51 NHL games last season, Moore recorded 19 points, scoring five goals and adding 14 assists. He also appeared in nine games for the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League, where he collected nine points on six goals and three assists. His first NHL goal came on Nov. 9, 2025, in a 5-1 Chicago win at the Detroit Red Wings, in what was his 13th game with the club.[S1]
Draft Pedigree and International Success
Chicago selected Moore with the No. 19 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. Before turning professional, he spent two seasons at the University of Minnesota, where he produced 33 points on 12 goals and 21 assists in 38 games as a sophomore. As a freshman, he earned a place on the 2024 Big Ten All-Rookie Team.[S1]
Moore has also represented the United States at the IIHF World Junior Championship, helping the national team capture gold medals in both 2024 and 2025. The Blackhawks open their regular season on the road against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday, with the game scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET and carried on ESPN and TVAS2.[S1]
